On August 27th 2024, we will be implementing a pricing change for all follow up appointments booked with Frida. This article should help answer any questions you might have about this change.
In this article:
- Why are we updating our pricing?
- Are Frida follow up appointments covered by insurance providers?
- Are there any other changes to Frida rescheduling policies?
- Are the costs for other appointment types (Initial Assessment, Accommodation Forms Assessment) changing?
- I’ve recently received a prescription after completing a follow up appointment. Can I book another follow up appointment sooner to receive an additional prescription?
- What are my options if Frida is no longer right for me?
Why are we updating our pricing?
Frida receives no government funding, so we rely solely on payment from patients to fund our services. This price update enables us to offer new and improved services to Frida patients while ensuring we continue to provide the highest possible quality of care.
Along with introducing exciting new therapy services for active Frida patients, we’re working to add new clinicians to the Frida team to increase appointment availability. We’ve also established clinical policies that enable longer prescription durations for patients who have reached their optimal dose, which will reduce overall appointment costs for long term patients.
Are Frida follow up appointments covered by insurance providers?
We understand that the cost of Frida appointments may be challenging to maintain. If you have private insurance, you may have coverage for Frida under an HSA.
What is an HSA?
Health Spending Accounts can help you cover services that aren’t included in your core insurance plan. Medical expenses provided by licensed healthcare providers like Frida should be eligible to claim under an HSA.
We encourage you to take a moment to check if your insurance plan includes an HSA, and to confirm it covers services like Frida appointments.
Are there any other changes to Frida rescheduling policies?
No, there are no other changes to Frida’s rescheduling policies.
At this time, our policies around rescheduling are:
- There will be no additional charge for changes made to your appointment up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time.
- Any changes made to an appointment within 24 hours of the appointment start time will be subject to the full cost of the appointment.
- If you miss your scheduled appointment without prior notice, you will not be eligible for a refund of the appointment cost.
As a reminder, our full policy on rescheduling and related fees can be found in our Terms of Service (section 11 - Fees and Payment)
Are the costs for other appointment types (Initial Assessment, Accommodation Forms Assessment) changing?
No, the costs for other appointment types are not changing. The cost for other Frida appointment types are:
- Initial Assessment Appointments will cost $599 per session
- Accommodation Forms Assessment Appointments will cost $99 per session
I’ve recently received a prescription after completing a follow up appointment. Can I book another follow up appointment sooner to receive an additional prescription?
We do not recommend pre-booking an appointment sooner than recommended by your clinician. Additional prescriptions are usually not available outside of a determined prescription cycle even if you’ve met with a clinician.
In general, for newer patients in their titration phase, patients meet with their clinician every 4-8 weeks and are issued prescriptions to cover the length of time in-between those appointments. Patients who have reached an optimal dose with their treatment plan typically require one appointment every 3 to 6 months moving forward.
Meeting with your clinician according to the recommended time frame allows us to thoroughly assess your progress and well-being at each follow-up appointment, and ensures that you can achieve stability on your medication and dose.
If you urgently require a partial refill in-between appointments, please let us know by submitting a ticket to our patient care team. Your request will be reviewed by a Nurse Practitioner and if appropriate, will be released as a bridging prescription.
What are my options if Frida is no longer right for me?
We understand if this change in pricing prompts you to consider other options for ongoing ADHD care. If you were considering pausing your care via Frida, we would still recommend booking a follow up appointment with our clinical team so we can safely discharge you from our care. This is especially important if you are currently on medications for other mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, as stopping these medications abruptly may cause discontinuation symptoms.
Note that this appointment is a follow up appointment and is subject to a charge of $99 if it is scheduled to take place on or after August 27th.
As part of our commitment as your current ADHD care provider, Frida is able to provide you with a one-time, short-term renewal for your prescribed medication, and can also help with a discharge/ transfer letter so you can continue care with a different provider.
